Due to the lack of good restaurants in space, astronauts unfortunately have to take their own food with them. Astronauts might get paid lots and but they do have to sacrifice quite a lot for this. One such thing is being able to sit down for a Sunday lunch or popping out to their local takeaway. As well as making spaceships those guys at NASA also came up with some tasty treats that would be practical to pack aboard a spaceship and feed a few hungry astronauts when needed.
Originally Developed for the early Apollo Missions, this space treat is frozen to -40 F (-40 C) and then vacuum dried and placed in a special foil pouch. Freeze-dried foods are used by astronauts eating under weightlessness conditions in space. Freeze dried Ice-cream might not sound that tasty, it does however seem to condense the taste making it a much more flavoursome and textured treat.
