The Mathmos Thaw is the latest of unique lighting products to emerge from the Mathmos range.

Using a tea light the Thaw comes with a mould which once filled with water you place in the freezer overnight and then place on top of the stand and light the candle inside. A unique atmospheric lighting effect is created that constantly changes as the ice melts around candle. The mould forms part of the base which then catches the ice as it melts, so you won’t end up with a puddle on your table.

Combining fire with ice the Mathmos Thaw creates a great visual effect that will last for about 3 hours. There are only so many things you can do with a candle to create a great looking effect, and this does it with a sophisticated ease, great for parties or any other soirées you might be planning this year.

Not quite an ice candle, but this is probably the closest you can get to it without making ice from some highly flammable substance, if that’s at all possible.
